Gustaf Westman

Gustaf Westman is a Swedish designer and creative director who established his studio in Stockholm in 2020. Since its founding the brand has gained international recognition for a distinctive approach to furniture and objects that combine playful shapes with a carefully considered design process. Westman originally trained as an architect, a background that continues to influence his work through a strong focus on proportion, structure and spatial awareness.

The studio works primarily with small scale furniture and interior objects such as mirrors, tables, ceramics and decorative accessories. Many of the pieces are produced in limited quantities and developed in close collaboration with local manufacturers and workshops. Materials such as lacquered wood, steel, glass and ceramics are central to the collections, and each object is developed with attention to surface treatment, colour and construction.

Gustaf Westman’s design language is defined by rounded silhouettes, exaggerated proportions and a clear graphic character. While the shapes often appear playful, the objects are grounded in traditional design principles and careful craftsmanship. The studio frequently explores the relationship between functional objects and sculptural form, resulting in pieces that operate both as everyday furniture and as expressive design elements.

Within the contemporary design landscape Gustaf Westman has established a clear and recognisable position. The brand represents a new generation of Swedish designers who combine architectural thinking with a strong visual identity and a direct connection to digital culture. Through a focused studio practice and carefully developed collections, Westman continues to expand the scope of contemporary Scandinavian design.
